How To Brew The Perfect Cup of Bean Central Coffee

For Auto Drip:

Keep the zip-lock sealed on your Bean Central fresh valve bag. Else keep in an airtight container. Grind just before using. Use fresh, good tasting water. Bottled if necessary. Place the paper filter in the basket and wet well before use. This removes paper taste and also aids in grind saturation. Use a medium grind. Feels like coarse sand.

How Much Coffee?

Most people are delighted with one tablespoon for each 6 oz of coffee. Plus one for the pot. So if you have a 12 cup maker use ~7 tablespoons. Then adjust to your taste for the next pot. Remember, you can always dilute coffee that is too strong but you can't improve weak coffee.

Press Pot aka French Press

This is the way to make great strong coffee. Start your water and bring to a boil. Meanwhile pre-heat you pot. Let your boiling water rest for 30 seconds. Pour a little more than enough water to well-cover your grounds. Swirl to thoroughly wet the grounds. Fresh coffee will produce a "crema." Pour the remainder of your water to about an inch from the top. Let steep for 4 minutes. Slowly press your filter down. Let settle. Enjoy.

Coffee should be coarsely ground. Fines cause murky, bitter and hard to filter brew. I use 28 grams to make my 12oz Bodum. That is almost 4 Tablespoons. You may prefer less.
